A Feast of Physics Practicals

Delivering required physics practicals can be time-consuming and technically challenging—but with the right equipment, it doesn’t have to be.

Join Dr Nic Swann and Lucienne McCallum for a practical-focused session exploring how Lascells equipment can simplify the delivery of key experiments across waves, mechanics and thermodynamics.

Through live demonstrations, this session will showcase reliable, classroom-ready approaches that help reduce setup time, improve accuracy, and support better student outcomes.

Why attend?

Required practicals are a core part of the science curriculum, yet they can often be difficult to deliver consistently and effectively.

This session offers a chance to:

  • See proven setups for key experiments in action

  • Reduce the complexity and stress of delivering practicals

  • Improve reliability and student understanding through better equipment

Whether you're supporting lessons or delivering them, this session will help you streamline your approach and maximise impact.

What we'll cover

Live demonstrations will include:

  • Waves using the Compact Ripple Tank

  • F = ma with the Advanced Timer and Light Gates

  • Electric fields using an E-field detector

  • Gas laws, including estimating absolute zero (Boyle’s Law and Jolly bulb)

  • g by freefall

Wednesday 20th May 2pm - 3pm

Brought to you by Dr Nic Swann and Lucienne McCallum
